My husband decided to surprise me with a second honeymoon after our fourth child turned two. Needless to say I was thrilled when he told me we were going to Fiji! We stayed at the Mana Island Resort from October 11th to October 17th, one full week in paradise and home in time for Halloween madness. I am pleased to report that we returned fully rejuvenated and ready to face all of the upcoming holidays.
The weather was spectacular while we were there, and we had a romantic and relaxing time at the resort. Before I get specific, let me say right off that I would highly recommend this resort to others.
To begin – THE BEACHES! I am a beach person and the Mana Island Resort is connected with 3 different beaches – North Beach, South Beach, and Sunset Beach. All of them are stunning and they all offer swimming, snorkeling, and amazing walks and views. Because of the way the beaches are situated on the island, if it is too windy at one, you can simply go to another. Water shoes are not a bad idea, though, as there are a lot of coral reefs around and they will protect your feet and let your enjoy the beauty of the coral. Definitely bring an underwater camera! The variations between sand and rocky spots and incredible water make this resort the perfect beach spot.
I had read some spotty food reviews about the resort, and I am a very picky eater, so I will admit I was a little concerned. There was no need! Honestly, the food was amazing. There was a buffet restaurant and an a la carte restaurant that we enjoyed, but we found that reservations were a good idea. My husband also had planned ahead and ordered the meal package ahead of time, which was a really good idea for us because it did save us quite a bit of money. Drinks are always separate but the prices were not outrageous so it was not a problem. I also had read that some people had gotten ill, and that was not the case at all for us. Like I said before, I am a picky eater, mostly because I have some food allergies and sensitivities, and I had no problems eating very well at the Mana Island Resort.
